Creativity in the Classroom: Balancing Chaos and Structure (Session Repeats: Monday 10:15)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Creativity is often touted as an essential skill (21st century, global, etc.) for every student. Yet, we continue to see a dichotomous relationship between creativity and curriculum standards. There are good natured attempts to integrate creativity in the classroom, but many times it becomes disjointed and disconnected from learning goals. In this session, I'll share some tips on how to find a balance between structure and chaos. I'll present concepts like "creative burstiness" and make connections to the movie "Sound of Music" and the TV series "Project Runway." The audience will leave inspired to change the way they view and implement creativity in the classroom.

At the end of this session, participants will explain strategies to better foster creativity in the classroom. Participants will implement tools to more effectively implement creative processes in the classroom.
